I have been taking a poll of married people and am finding that, just as scholars say, in households where both the husband and wife work full time, the wife takes on the lion's share of domestic and parental responsibilities. I attribute this in part to men's greater tolerance for squalor and their willingness to let their kids eat hot dogs for every meal and go to bed without taking care of personal hygiene. The men make a big to do about how much they do and tend to liken unloading the dishwasher to walking on the moon in terms of heroism.
I don't know whether I do my fair share or not. I doubt it.
