This story http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2005/jun/05061607.html is intriguing. (Note that the story includes a blurb about a couple who visited GWB at the presidential palace with their "23 month old adopted frozen embryo, Mary Elizabeth". Did they have her on dry ice or something? Do they get a tax exemption for the embryo, and can they write off their freezer as a medical expense? If you get an exemption, sign me up for a thousand embryos to call me Pa.)
Some Californians are suing on behalf of an unspecified frozen embryo to stop the stem cell initiative in California on the basis that it violates the rights of frozen embryos. As I have stated before, let's be sure a guardian is appointed for the frozen little blob of cells since the plaintiffs probably have little real interest in her well being. They probably want to stuff her into a womb or something with the huge risk that comes from being thawed, from failing to implant, and from miscarrying. Keep her frozen, and by no means put her in a womb if she happens to get thawed out and survives the process. Rather, put her in culture and let her develop to her full potential as an unsentient blob of cells.
What's next? Polyp rights?
